There are hundreds software download archives accepting PAD submissions or polling the free PAD repository maintained by ASP Shareware. Direct PAD submissions and the ASP repository combined create a flow of dozens of new and updated software products every day. But should all of them be listed?
Spammers learn fast. Just a few years ago, they discovered a new method of 'promoting' their sites. Creating a PAD file for a fake product and submitting it to multiple software archives produces numerous back links, improving the spammers' rankings in search engines. There are no requirements to link, no restrictions, and no commissions to pay.
