I could not even imagine how wonderful it would be to wake up every day to gorgeous blue skies and sunshine and so looking forward to moving to a tropical island.
I would stand outside our little house in hyderabad, and shine a torch on my face so that I could close my eyes and trick my poor brain into believing that that light shining against my eyelids was actually sunshine, even though it was raining and bitterly cold at the time!
Now, having lived in this gorgeous Paradise for over a year, I cannot even remember what it felt like to be that cold. Take now, for example. It is Winter. Yes, Winter with a big capital, the season formally known as 'Hell Time'. And where am I?
Sitting outside on my cool, spacious verandah, with the sun shining down so hard that I have to wear sunglasses to protect my eyes from the diamond sparkles of the swimming pool I can count 3 clouds in the sky, and there is only a gentle breeze keeping me cool enough to relax outside in comfort.
Of course, that it is Winter does mean that I am forced to wear a short sleeved t-shirt instead of my usual bikini and kaftan, the standard house wear for the island, but these sacrifices must be made!
I remember those days back in hyderabad and when I longed for just a ray of light to break through the sky, and now I often remind myself of those dark, grey times when I find myself being silly enough to complain about how awfully hot it is and verbalize the ridiculous notion of longing for a bit of snow.
When all is said and done, I'll take this "Winter", full of sunshine and blue skies, over the temporary joy of watching pale-faced children throw around a snowball or two any day!
