There are certain flowers which bloom during this season and thus are an exclusive part of the Christmas Day celebrations.
The tribal people known as Aztecs are quite well-known and they regarded the poinsettia as an icon of purity and thus this is how it began to be used as one of the eminent Christmas flowers. The importance of the Christmas cactus is that it blooms especially during the Christmas time and thus it becomes a symbol to be used during this period and is definitely one of the popular Christmas flowers. The stems of this cactus variety are pendulous in form and thus they can be adequately used in the hanging baskets. Several other varieties of cactus are also sold as Christmas cactus during this festive season. Christmas definitely comes alive in the form of Christmas roses and this flower definitely makes the arrangements during the festival season a joyous one. This flower type is also referred to as the ‘snow rose’ and the ‘winter rose’ and they are also referred to as the ‘Serissa’.
Bright red flowers of the Pohutukawa tree blooms during the month of December in New Zealand and thus they are definitely used as Christmas flowers in this country.
