1.Know the game. It is to your benefit to understand as many of the types of bingo games played as you can, as well as the rules of each game. You can begin by playing in smaller bingo halls at first or going to games with experienced friends who can teach you the basics.

2. Choose a game with the least number of players. This may be impossible if you’re playing in a large bingo hall that has many players. You may want to consider playing during off-peak hours. The fewer players there are, the better your chances of winning.

3. Assume that most of the other players are better at bingo than you are. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because you win against family and friends at home, that you’re on equal footing with other players in the room. Many of these players are at best, seasoned professionals. At the very least, they’ve played enough games to recognize the better cards on sight, and can daub away at the numbers with remarkable efficiency. Don’t allow yourself to be pulled into conversations where you’ll lose track of the game. This is often how bingo pros win against novice players.

4. Choose your cards with care. Try to choose cards in which the numbers in the rows follow a similar pattern. For example, in the B row, the numbers should contain mostly single digits.

5. Don’t play more cards than you can efficiently handle. While it’s tempting to increase your odds of winning by playing several cards at once, it is also easy to overlook a number on a card, thereby defeating the purpose of the game, which is to win. It’s also more expensive and will run through your gambling budget faster. Which would you rather do on a single game, play three cards and win or play eight cards and lose?

6. If you’re playing with more than one card, choose cards with similar numbers. This way, you stand a better chance of covering more numbers associated with that group. Again, pay close attention so that you don’t make any mistakes and daub the wrong number or card.

7. Keep the good luck charms to a minimum. Troll dolls, lucky sparkle pens and the like tend to distract other players around you. They also make you look silly. If you want to be taken seriously as a player, let the grannies in their house dresses decorate their areas with trinkets. Keep your lucky charm in your pocket or purse, and concentrate on winning the game.

8. Focus on the game, not the prize. The numbers are called out or displayed in rapid succession and you must pay attention to each one. Daydreaming about how you’ll spend the prize money can cause you to miss a called number.

9. Double check the called numbers. Save yourself embarrassment after shouting “BINGO” by ensuring the numbers you daubed were the numbers actually called. It only takes an additional second or two to verify they are correct.

10. Don’t bet more than you can afford to lose. This probably goes without saying. Just remember that small losses add up quickly. Keep it fun. That’s really what it’s all about.
